Romans and Galatians
My Philosophy I believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God. It is the final and complete revelation of God. The Bible is an ancient document written to ancient peoples in a variety of cultures and situations. I believe that God’s word comes alive when we prayerfully read, intelligently study, and practically apply it to our life.
Personal Goals This class will be the most interesting, challenging, and meaningful Bible class possible. The classroom will be a safe and encouraging environment for each and every student. I will treat each student with respect and dignity.
Student Goals Each student will grow and mature in his or her relationship with God through a study of the Paul’s letters to the Romans and the Galatians.
Each student will be challenged to:

Christianity, Culture, & Cinema
Students will meet in a traditional classroom some days and complete the remainder of the work online. Students who successfully complete this course will receive ½ Bible credit & ½ Technology credit.
This course will explore Christianity and one’s own culture through an examination of the significant ideas present in the Western world today (Post modernity, Relativism, Redemption, Forgiveness, and Beauty & Goodness) by critically reflecting upon the biblical narrative and its intersection with the medium of film. Because cinema is the grand collaborator of all other story-telling devices (e.g., music, spoken word, photography, human emotion), this course will attempt to connect, and at times critique, the biblical narrative and the prominent narratives present in our culture, the methods used to tell such stories, and the ways in which these truths are still understood in the current world of cinema. The Gospel of John and the Paul's Epistles will be used as Biblical texts to compare and contrast the messages of culture with the message of Scriptures.

AP Psychology
The central question in this course is: “how do psychologists think?” The psychologist (and author of our textbook), David Meyers, wrote that to think as a psychologist, one must learn to “restrain intuition with critical thinking, judgmentalism with compassion, and illusion with understanding.” (Sernberg, 1997). Whether students choose to pursue a career related to psychology or one in some entirely different field, this habit of mind will be of great value.
The purpose of AP Psychology is to introduce students to the systematic and scientific study of the behavior and mental processes of human beings and other animals.
Students will prepare to do acceptable and quality work on the AP Psychology Examination.
Students will explore and assess the major core concepts and theories of psychology. They will be able to define key terms and use them in their everyday vocabulary.
Students will learn the basic skills of psychological research and be able to apply psychological concepts in their own lives.
Students will develop and use critical thinking skills.
