Mrs. Brocklebank
My name is Meredith Brocklebank and I am thrilled to be working with you and your student this year. I am passionate about teaching, and I feel blessed to be at Lipscomb Academy. I believe students learn best when they are in relationship with their teacher and in a learning community with their classmates. This makes me passionate about Christian education because I believe that kind of relationship and community occurs more naturally in a Christian school. I also find it difficult when I am limited and I cannot be transparent concerning my faith. This makes Lipscomb Academy the perfect place for me! I am also passionate about teenagers (which I admit may seem strange to many people). I think they are a unique and under-served demographic and that makes me love serving them! This will be my fifth year to teach at Lipscomb and I can't imagine a better community for me to be a part of. This year I will be teaching Algebra II, Honors Algebra II, and Geometry. My husband and I have been married for a little over three years but have been together for almost eight years and I feel so incredibly blessed to have him by my side. We attend Brentwood Hills Church of Christ and spend a week every March leading a mission trip to Baja, Mexico through the University where we will build a house, teach a VBS, and provide basic needs to the families in San Quintin. My week in Baja is one of my favorite weeks of the year and we feel so grateful to have the opportunity to serve in that way. Here at Lipscomb Academy I also work with the Spiritual Formation team, I am a LEAD mentor, and I lead a menu chapel called "Girls Chat."
Communication
I know this journey will not always be easy for your student but I am excited about partnering with you to help make the path a little smoother. I am here before and after school for help to help students with their questions. I keep RenWeb up-to-date with both grades and with the “Lesson Plan” for the week. This is a great resource for you and your student to know how he/she is doing in my class and to know what the homework is for the week. Please check RenWeb regularly as this will help everyone stay informed! You may also reach me through email or by phone. I am also available for conferences (either by phone or in person) during my planning period and before or after school.
If you ever have ANY questions or concerns please feel free to contact me! I look forward to working with you and your student this year!

What can you do to help?
I do have high expectations for all of my students and they won’t always like how hard I will push them; however I also hope to help them relieve some math anxiety and feel more confident in their math abilities. I hope to partner with each of you to help your student reach success! While we will all work hard this year to teach your student to be independent and take responsibility for their own education, there are some things you can do to help your child be successful
- Reinforce the importance of doing their homework every night, showing all of their work AND checking answers in the back of the book! (They will have homework most nights and it will be checked consistently through completion checks, homework quizzes, and POP quizzes. Homework is very important in math and can make a huge difference in a student’s level of success!)
- Help your student avoid missing math class since math topics build.
- Emphasize the importance of taking thorough notes and keeping their work organized.
- Encourage them to have a “bedside 5” (5 minutes to study right before bed) every night and make sure they are getting a full night’s sleep.
- Advise them on how to take responsibility for their education! (by doing homework, studying, staying organized and most importantly asking questions! I am willing to help them before/after school if they will only ask!)
- Encourage and support them through this difficult course and for many of them a tough year.
- Check RenWeb regularly to stay up to date with their current grades and their homework for each week.
