Mrs. Deena Irwin
Welcome to Seventh Grade Language Arts! I am Deena Irwin and I am beginning my 20th
year of teaching at Lipscomb Academy. I
feel very blessed to be part of the seventh grade team and to be able to teach
what I enjoy on a daily basis. I love
this age group and look forward to the adventures each day holds in my
classroom!
I have been married to my husband, Phil, for 29 years and we have three wonderful sons. Our oldest son, Reed, will be a freshman at the University this fall and our twins, Brock and Brady, are in fourth grade at the elementary school. We are members at Brentwood Hills Church of Christ. I enjoy watching my boys play ball, reading, and spending time at the lake or the beach. I am co-sponsor of the National Junior Honor Society. I have been priviledged to win the Martha Riedl Grant which allowed me to travel to Australia and connect with King’s College, a Christian school on the Gold Coast.
My class encompasses vocabulary, literature, writing, grammar, and Greek morphemes. During the year we will spend time in the writing lab, work with different technology venues, develop skills through our university connections, complete traditional classroom study, and collaborate with the students of King’s College in Australia. I anticipate a wonderful year filled with learning and fun for your child! Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of help to you during the year.
