Mrs. Rebecca Lavender
I am thrilled to have the opportunity to teach at Lipscomb Academy. I am starting my 19th year of teaching at Lipscomb. I especially love teaching Bible and science. I consider it a great honor to be able to work with our parents as we show the love of God to our students. I believe He has created every student in His image with unique talents and that He desires a relationship with them. It is a joy to be able to help them find their place in their Father's world. I chose science because I believe all God's creation speaks of Him. As we learn more about His amazing creation, we can't help but stand in awe of our Creator in all His power and majesty! One of my goals in teaching is "to enthrall the mind with the beauty of God." (Dallas Willard)
My favorite verse is I John 3:1, "How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!"
I am married to Earl Lavender who teaches at LU in the Haislip School of Religion. We have been greatly blessed with three children, three married-in children, and three grandchildren. We had the privilege of living in Italy as missionaries for 6 years and have more recently done short-term mission work in Italy, China, Scotland, and Australia. We are members of Woodmont Hills Church of Christ.
Communication: I feel like open communication between teachers, parents, and students is vital to a student's success. We are all parts of the team that combine to bring out the best in the student. I pledge to do my best to communicate with parents, both to celebrate successes and to address concerns. I encourage you to feel free to communicate freely with me, as well. I invite you to do this in person, through phone calls, or via email.

Below you will find the information I give orally at Meet the Teacher night. I hope this format will not only save paper but also give you ready access all year long to some important information.
