Mrs. ReynoldsThis is my sixteenth year at Lipscomb teaching science. I teach honors and AP Chemistry. I love teaching chemistry because it is challenging and has a lot of hands-on applications. I am married to Jon Reynolds who is the associate and youth minister at the Rural Hill Church of Christ. My daughter, Lindsey, is a seventh grader and my son, Mason, is in fourth grade. My family is very important to me and I know that your family is important to you. I am really excited about the start of another year and look forward to spending the year with your children. Please feel free to contact me at any time with questions or concerns. [email protected]

Important Information for Parents to Know
Please use RenWeb to keep up with your child's grades, lesson plans, homework and demerits. Please check grades at least once a week. I will not send home progress reports. Missing (M) and Absent (A) grades in RenWeb count as zeros in RenWeb. Absent work may be made up as described in the "Make up work policy".
Please encourage your children. (See the High School page for 3 important things you should say to your kids as often as you can)
Every Monday I will have the week's schedule on the board and in RenWeb. Please encourage your kids to work ahead if they have a busy night due to extra-curricular events.

Honors Chemistry - Important Information
Chemistry is a required course for sophomores. Students choose to take honors chemistry or regular college-prep chemistry. In the honors chemistry course we go into greater depth on topics, do more labwork, and test over more difficult concepts. Chemistry can be a very difficult class, but it is also a very fun and interesting class. As we talk about the small atoms and molecules and how the interact with each other we begin to have a better understanding of the world God created.

AP Chemistry - Important Information
AP Chemistry is equivalent to the first year chemistry course taken by anyone who plans to major in a scientific field in college such as medicine, engineering, or pharmacy. The course requires 290 minutes of class time per week which is why it meets first period. We will use the time before school to begin lab work or more often to get help with homework.

How to succeed in Chemistry
Chemistry may be the hardest class you have taken so far in high school. I want the class to be a challenge, but I also want everyone to do well in the class. Here are some general suggestions for improvement.
Do all of the homework.
(Most of the test questions are things we have covered in the homework)(Correct your homework as we go over it in class.)(Ask questions as we are going over the homework.)
Take good notes.
(Include all examples, definitions and problems we work in class with your notes.)(It may help to print the notes from RebWeb and then add details and highlight during class.)
Do NOT wait until the night before the test to study.
(You will not be able to learn everything in one night. If you study beforehand, I can answer any questions that you have about the material.)
How to study for the tests.
1. Know your notes
2. Rework homework problems (especially if you did not understand the first time.)
3. Study several nights before the test.
If you have any questions, come see me. I am here by 7:10 every morning before school.
